Film News: ‘Mrs. Maisel’ Rachel Brosnahan at Actors Training Center Fundraiser, Oct. 19, 2018
Submitted by PatrickMcD on October 19, 2018 - 12:28amCHICAGO – She’s an Emmy Winner for a television character that lived in a different America, 60 years ago. Rachel Brosnahan is “The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel” of Amazon Prime, portraying Miriam “Midge” Maisel, a potential stand-up comic in a late 1950s era, when that was something a woman didn’t necessarily consider. She appears on behalf of the Wilmette (Illinois) Actors Training Center on Friday, October 19th, 2018, at a fundraiser for that organization, for which she is an alumni. Interview: Alex Borstein, ‘Family Guy’ Voice of Lois Griffin, on Her New Role in ‘Bordertown’
Submitted by PatrickMcD on January 9, 2016 - 2:14pmCHICAGO – Voiceover artist Alex Borstein is familiar to TV audiences as the legendary Lois Griffin of “Family Guy,” but she also is a stellar character actress, recently in a role on the HBO series “Getting On.” She is back in the animation saddle with a couple of voiceover parts in the new FOX Network show ‘Bordertown.’
Blu-Ray Review: Hilarious ‘Laugh it Up, Fuzzball: The Family Guy Trilogy’
Submitted by BrianTT on December 23, 2010 - 3:18pmCHICAGO – The opening crawl of “Family Guy: It’s a Trap!” jokingly suggests that the viewer should lower his expectations since the writers had totally run out of steam by this point and were pressured by Fox into doing a spoof of “Return of the Jedi” to close out their “Star Wars” trilogy, now released in one Blu-ray set known as “Laugh It Up, Fuzzball: The Family Guy Trilogy.”
DVD Review: New Volumes of ‘American Dad,’ ‘Family Guy’
Submitted by BrianTT on July 4, 2010 - 8:18pmCHICAGO – Nearly thirty episodes of Sunday night FOX animated hits “American Dad!” and “Family Guy” were recently released on DVD in extras-packed volumes and we couldn’t let these excellent releases fly by without a brief review. It’s unlikely that anyone is jumping into their collections of either show this late in the game, so the question is will they satisfy fans who already purchased the first four volumes of “American Dad!” or the first seven of “Family Guy.” Fans won’t be disappointed.
Blu-Ray Review: ‘Family Guy: Something, Something, Something Darkside’
Submitted by BrianTT on January 4, 2010 - 1:51pmCHICAGO – It probably found its way under a few trees this Christmas, but if you have a gift card burning a hole in your wallet and are a fan of “Family Guy” without the latest straight-to-DVD release from Seth MacFarlane and his talented team then you should definitely use your holiday credit on the “Star Wars” (or, more specifically, “The Empire Strikes Back”) spoof “Family Guy: Something, Something, Something Darkside”.
Blu-Ray Review: ‘Seth MacFarlane’s Cavalcade of Cartoon Comedy’
Submitted by BrianTT on May 26, 2009 - 4:37pmCHICAGO – Fans of “American Dad!” and “Family Guy” should definitely take a look at “Seth MacFarlane’s Cavalcade of Cartoon Comedy,” a Blu-Ray release of short animated films in the same style as the random, tangential asides that helped make Stewie Griffin a household name.
