Summer Glau

CHICAGOSummer Glau (“Firefly,” “Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles”) is reuniting with Joss Whedon for the second season of “Dollhouse” this fall as she joins the cast in a recurring role. The actress previously worked with Whedon on the TV series “Firefly”. During this year’s ComicCon, Whedon expressed intense interest in having Glau join the series.

DVD Review: Excellence Continues With Twelfth Season of ‘The Simpsons’

The Simpsons S12

CHICAGO – Since Fox released the first season of “The Simpsons” on DVD, fans of the series have anticipated each new release like a kid waiting for presents for a fat man in a red suit to fall down a chimney in late December. Each season set for “The Simpsons” has set the bar for what TV on DVD should be. It’s no surprise that the twelfth season doesn’t change the excellent pattern.

Blu-Ray Review: ‘Dollhouse’ With Eliza Dushku is Still Fascinating Television

Dollhouse

CHICAGO – When “Dollhouse” premiered, I wrote, “All the ingredients are there for a riveting, fantastic series, but it feels like a show still finding its way.” An entire, controversial season later with the first 12 (or 14 depending on how you look at it) episodes of the Eliza Dushku show done and now on Blu-Ray the funny thing is that I feel exactly the same way. You can’t write off the show quite yet, but very few television series have been as wildly hit-and-miss as Joss Whedon’s latest creation.

FOX Announces Fall 2009 Premiere Dates Including ‘Dollhouse,’ ‘Fringe,’ ‘House’

CHICAGOFOX announced their fall premiere dates this morning and the network should start off with a skip in its step with “So You Think You Can Dance” and “Glee” kicking off the season on Wednesday, September 9th.

Blu-Ray Review: Kiefer Sutherland, ‘24’ Continue to Set the Bar

24

CHICAGO – The standard DVD season sets for “24” have long been setting the bar for what TV on DVD “should be”. Winning awards for their technical transfers and detailed, copious special features, the producers of “24“‘s home releases took it a step further this year by changing the game yet again with the Blu-Ray release of “24: Season Seven”.

TV Review: Ryan Murphy’s Excellent ‘Glee’ is Unlike Anything on TV

CHICAGO – Much closer to Alexander Payne’s “Election” than Disney’s “High School Musical,” the pilot for Ryan Murphy’s “Glee” is one of the best of the last several years, a clever blend of satire, pop tunes, laugh-out-loud comedy, and rich, interesting characters. The one thing I kept thinking during the pilot of “Glee”? This is too good for network TV. It will never last.

Interview: Ryan Murphy Dances His Way to ‘Glee’ on FOX

CHICAGO – Ryan Murphy is not a TV writer who believes in following the rules. He reached nearly iconic status from the loyal followers of FX’s “Nip/Tuck” and is trying to create water-cooler TV yet again with FOX’s very unique “Glee,” a show that we’ll review later this week (but you can check out a great clip here if you’re impatient).

TV Review: Jason Bateman, Will Arnett Reunite For ‘Sit Down, Shut Up’

Sit Down Shut Up

CHICAGO – Will another animated show on Sunday nights be a perfect fit for “The Simpsons” and “Family Guy” fans or will those beloved shows have set too high a bar to jump over for another cartoon to compete? People love their Homer and Stewie. Will they fall for the teachers of Knob Haven on “Sit Down, Shut Up”? Despite the incredible talent involved, I highly doubt it.

Video: Join the Club With FOX’s ‘Glee’ From ‘Nip/Tuck’ Creator Ryan Murphy

Glee

CHICAGO – “Nip/Tuck” creator Ryan Murphy brings his twisted worldview to the American high school with a new Fox series that looks bound to create a love-it-or-hate-it argument - a weekly musical comedy series called “Glee” - and we have an exciting new clip for you below.

DVD Review: ‘Andy Richter Controls the Universe: The Complete Series’ Finally Available

Andy Richter

DVD Rating: 5.0/5.0

CHICAGO – When I hear about shows that were “brilliant-but-canceled” one of the first series that comes to mind is the great “Andy Richter Controls the Universe”. Developing a cult following through cable repeats over the years, the complete series has been one of the most requested-but-unavailable titles since the show left the air over five years ago. Andy fans, your day has finally come. Rejoice.
