CHICAGO – For the younger set unable to experience the mystique of Dracula, Wolfman and Frankenstein in their original creations, “Hotel Transylvania 2” may prove to be an introduction to the legendary bloodsucker and his band of movie monsters – and for that Adam Sandler deserves a stake through his heart.
Film Review: Instead of Geeky Greatness, Adam Sandler Sucks the Soul Out of a Badly Miscast ‘Pixels’
Submitted by HollywoodChicago.com on July 23, 2015 - 11:58pmCHICAGO – The epitome of an idea that far outweighs its execution, “Pixels” is a bittersweet blunder that had all of the elements to be geeky great but ends up being cheesy mediocre. I could literally feel its potential for 105 minutes, but the $88 million film ultimately fails to realize it.

Film Review: ‘Grown Ups 2’ is the Worst Comedy Since 2010’s Loathed ‘Grown Ups’
Submitted by HollywoodChicago.com on July 11, 2013 - 8:31pmCHICAGO – There’s a time and a place where overacting is acceptable – musicals, children’s plays, Broadway – but there’s nothing worse than using it all the time in every wrong place.

DVD Review: Oddly Flat ‘Here Comes the Boom’ with Kevin James
Submitted by BrianTT on February 14, 2013 - 2:19pmCHICAGO – There are good movies, there are bad movies, and then there are the movies that are just strangely non-existent. The Kevin James comedy “Here Comes the Boom,” recently released on DVD and Blu-ray, falls into that gap in-between. The movie has a good heart but it’s so predictable that its complete lack of real humor leaves it just bland. There’s nothing horribly wrong with “Boom” but there’s nothing to praise either. It is mediocre in every way and will appeal to only hardcore fans of James or MMA.
Film Review: Kevin James Displays Heart in ‘Here Comes the Boom’
Submitted by PatrickMcD on October 13, 2012 - 9:57amCHICAGO – Seeing the words “Happy Madison Production” on any film means a broad, unfunny and formulaic comedy is about to emerge – usually with company founder Adam Sandler. Although “Here Comes the Boom” has some of those dulling elements, it’s Kevin James who is sincere and motivated as a cage match fighter.
Film Review: ‘Hotel Transylvania’ Proves Hyper Isn’t Always Funny
Submitted by BrianTT on September 19, 2012 - 4:04pmCHICAGO – It was probably just a matter of time. With the current vampire craze dominating pop culture in flicks like “The Twilight Saga” and shows like “True Blood,” it was inevitable that creatures of the night be turned into family entertainment. Even “Abbott & Costello Meet Frankenstein” was recently released on Blu-ray and Universal is about to unleash a whole set of HD monster movie classics. Monsters are hip. “Hotel Transylvania” does its best to put a nail in that coffin.
