CHICAGO – In a film that premiered at the Sundance Film Festival, and dropped on February 7th, 2020, at the relatively new Disney+ streaming service, “Timmy Failure: Mistakes Were Made,” already has proved its viability. The film is based on the youth fiction series by Stephan Pastis, who wrote the screenplay with director Tom McCarthy (“Spotlight”).

CHICAGO – Combining the history of golf with a heartbreaking romance seems like a contradiction, but the new film “Tommy’s Honour” does it fluidly, in part because of the two young actors portraying the romance. Jack Lowden and Ophelia Lovibond are the actors who anchor the film, and also are breaking out as performers.

Their presence, their cuteness, even their flightlessness are exploited for a dreadful Jim Carrey film called “Mr Popper’s Penguins.” Somebody call PETA.
