CHICAGO – The Windy City was abuzz with Red Carpet bliss as the multi-star cast and director of the new film “About My Father” walked before the Chicago premiere of the film on May 6th, 2023. Hot stand-up comic Sebastian Maniscalco is the leading man, with his father Salvo portrayed by the legendary Robert De Niro.

CHICAGO – Season 16 for the Asian Pop Up Cinema (APUC) had a spectacular finale with “Lost in Forest,” a North American Premiere wrapping up the Taiwan Cinema Showcase. Appearing live at the Red Carpet and participating in a post film Q&A were lead actor Lee Kang Sheng and Director Johnny Chiang.

CHICAGO – Media journalist Kate Couric came to the 58th Chicago International Film Festival (CIFF) as an Executive Producer for the film “No Ordinary Campaign,” the story of Brian Wallach and wife Sandra Abrevaya, who decided to use their political acumen to create change when Brian was diagnosed with ALS (aka Lou Gehrig’s Disease).

CHICAGO – Nikki Haley, the former governor of South Carolina and the first woman U.S. Ambassador to the U.N., is throwing her new book into the ring “If You Want Something Done: Leadership Lessons from Bold Women.” She appeared on behalf of the book at Anderson’s Bookshop in Naperville, Illinois, on October 3rd, 2022.

CHICAGO – One of the most passionate documentaries at the 58th Chicago International Film Festival (CIFF) was “No Ordinary Campaign.” The story of Brian Wallach and wife Sandra Abrevaya, who decided to use their political acumen to make change when Brian was diagnosed with ALS, was to bring the fight to Washington.

CHICAGO – Writer/Director Sarah Polley is back with her new film “Women Talking,” and attended a screening at the 58th Chicago International Film Festival (CIFF) on October 20th, 2022. After making her name as a in-demand actor, Polley has since directed films like “Away From Her” and “Stories We Tell.”

CHICAGO – The Reverend Al Sharpton has been a “Loudmouth” … as the new documentary on his life and work is called … virtually all his life. His outspoken activism began a year after Dr. King was killed, when Sharpton became Youth Director of Operation Breadbasket at age 15, and continues to today, especially around the killing of George Floyd. Rev. Al Sharpton appeared on the Red Carpet at the 58th Chicago International Film Festival.
