CHICAGO – “The Hollywood Show” is an exciting gathering of celebrities and memorabilia for movies, TV and pop culture fans. The latest edition will be this weekend – September 9th-11th, 2016 – at the Hilton/O’Hare Airport Hotel in Rosemont, Ill. (details below). Joe Arce of HollywoodChicago.com will be there to photograph the stars, and offers a Slideshow featuring the celebrities who attended the 2015 event.

CHICAGO – There are previous examples of films that were made with a president as a character while he was in office, including “P.T. 109” (John F. Kennedy, war story), “W.” (George W. Bush, Oliver Stone biography) and “Yankee Doodle Dandy” (Franklin D. Roosevelt, cameo). President Barack Obama has joined their ranks, but the subject matter of “Southside With You” is decidedly different. The film chronicles his first date with Michelle Robinson, now the First Lady.

CHICAGO – Actor Ethan Hawke continues his plethora of vocations with the “hawkeing” of “Indeh,” his new graphic novel (co-authored with Greg Ruth) at the 2016 Printers Row Lit Fest in June. He was the celebrity spotlight, but the festival also featured the heavy hitters of the literary world, including notables Terry McMillan (“How Stella Got Her Groove Back”) and R.L.“Goosebumps” Stine.

CHICAGO – Two icons of comedy, one contemporary and one classic, took the stage during last month’s “Just for Laughs Chicago” festival – sponsored by the TBS Network – and brought down their respective houses. Political commentator Bill Maher and comic legend Bob Newhart both performed downtown at The Chicago Theatre.

CHICAGO – The annual “Just for Laughs Chicago” comedy festival, sponsored by the TBS network, is one of the highlights of the summer months in the Windy City. Each June, Chicago cements its reputation as the capital of hilarity, and the participating comedians are the top of the current crop.

CHICAGO – Oscar winning actress Helen Hunt has emerged recently with the lead role in “The Sessions,” in which she portrays a sex therapist counseling a handicapped man played by John Hawkes. The Junior Board of the Chicago International Film Festival screened “The Sessions” and honored Helen Hunt with a Red Carpet appearance on October 20th, 2012.

CHICAGO – The new film “The Scapegoat” made a premiere splash at the 48th Chicago International Film Festival, with lead actor Matthew Rhys – of TV’s “Brothers & Sisters” – and director Charles Sturridge walking the Red Carpet on Thursday, October 18th. The festival wraps up this week on October 25th.

CHICAGO – One of the hottest actors of 2012 is Joseph Gordon-Levitt. Fresh off his triumph in “The Dark Knight Rises,” comes a new performance in the science fiction film, “Looper,” in which he co-stars with Bruce Willis.
