CHICAGO – Going to the beach is simultaneously an exciting and disgusting experience. Swimming in the cool water that thousands have gone inside in the past, with more than a few leaving bodily fluid deposits, is the perfect way to describe “Baywatch”. No amount of beefy biceps or shirt-busting breasts could have given “Baywatch” the buoyancy needed to keep from sinking, let alone stay afloat.
Film Review: ‘San Andreas’ Loads Its Story with Too Many Faults
Submitted by PatrickMcD on May 30, 2015 - 1:53pmCHICAGO – The best way, perhaps the only way, to enjoy the disaster movie “San Andreas” is to check your brain at the door, or better yet leave it at home for safekeeping. Bringing new meaning to the term mindless entertainment, “San Andreas” dares its audience to turn off their minds, and enjoy the ride.
Film Review: Terribly Scripted ‘San Andreas’ With Dwayne Johnson a Heartless Special Effects Spectacle
Submitted by HollywoodChicago.com on May 29, 2015 - 3:26pmCHICAGO – When the story is as weak as the film’s fault lines and the character development never develops, the problem with blowing $100 million mostly on special effects is all you’re left with is unintelligent disaster porn.

TV Review: The Rock Launches Bizarre Reality Show About ‘The Hero’
Submitted by BrianTT on June 6, 2013 - 1:15pmCHICAGO – What makes a hero? Is it the guy who rappels off a skyscraper with ease or the woman who confronts her fears and climbs a dangerous staircase? Is it the winner or the team player? At its best, TNT’s new reality competition series, “The Hero,” starring Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, taps into these questions, but it so often does so in a manipulative, predictable, boring way that you might not want to stick around for the answers.

Blu-Ray Review: ‘Race to Witch Mountain’ With Dwayne Johnson a Waste of Energy
Submitted by BrianTT on August 13, 2009 - 4:04pmCHICAGO – “Race to Witch Mountain,” now on Blu-Ray and DVD, is a head-scratcher, a movie with more than enough individual elements that should work but proof that a film is not just the sum of its parts.
Blu-Ray Review: High Definition Makes ‘The Rock Collection’ More Appealing
Submitted by BrianTT on February 9, 2009 - 12:55pmBlu-Ray Rating: 3.0/5.0 |
CHICAGO – Dwayne Johnson, the artist formerly known as ‘The Rock,’ has a new movie hitting theaters next month, “Race to Witch Mountain,” so the time seems right to revisit the action extravaganzas that almost made this former wrestler a massive star with the release of three of his early films on Blu-Ray in “The Rock Collection”.
