DVD Review: Excellent Box Set For ‘Monk: The Complete Series’

Monk Complete Series

CHICAGO – Winner of several Emmy Awards, including three for star Tony Shalhoub for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Comedy Series, “Monk” was easily one of the most successful and influential programs of the ’00s. It may seem like too light and inconsequential a show to be deemed so important but the show about the OCD detective has completely changed the landscape of basic cable television, proving that networks like USA could play with the big boys.

Blu-Ray Review: Stylish Release For USA’s ‘White Collar’

White Collar

CHICAGO – It makes sense that a show as stylish and well-dressed as USA’s “White Collar” would have a beautiful HD transfer for its first-season release but sense and Blu-ray production don’t always go hand in hand. Luckily, fans of this excellent show will be happy to know that this is one of the most expertly-remastered sets of the year to date.

TV Review: Entertaining ‘White Collar’ Returns For Second Season

White Collar

CHICAGO – The USA network continues its plans for world domination with an all-out assault on your summer viewing schedule. With “Royal Pains” and “Burn Notice” continuing to rack up amazing ratings on Thursday nights, the network kick starts the Tuesday offensive with the return of the entertaining “White Collar,” a clever riff on timeless TV archetypes.

DVD Review: Average Release For ‘Burn Notice: Season Three’

Burn Notice: Season Three

CHICAGO – The most recent season of one of the sexiest and most stylish shows on television was released on DVD this month and the show itself is still entertaining enough to warrant a look but the home release for it is a bit mediocre. USA’s “Burn Notice” has loyal fans who would undeniably appreciate a more extensive home release than this average one.

TV Review: ‘Royal Pains’ Returns With Summer Prescription

Royal Pains

CHICAGOUSA’s “Royal Pains” was one of the most surprising hits of 2009, the #1 new show of the summer season, and it returns even more confident, entertaining, and close-to-perfect with its second season premiere on June 3rd, 2010. It’s highly unlikely that the show will lose any viewers and the buzz around the sophomore season and the release of the first on DVD should actually see numbers increase.

TV Review: Fourth Season of USA’s ‘Burn Notice’ Sizzles

CHICAGOUSA’s hit action series “Burn Notice” returns tonight, June 3rd, 2010, with a very dark season premiere that hints at an emotional roller coaster to come and, potentially, at a resurgence for a show that has been spinning its wheels a bit since an amazing second season finale.

DVD Review: Second Season of USA Network’s ‘In Plain Sight’

In Plain Sight: Season Two

CHICAGO – “In Plain Sight” has not really built the loyal following of other basic cable shows like “Burn Notice” or “The Closer” and I wish the show would try harder to live up to its potential but it’s still wildy entertaining and features one of the better TV actress performances from Mary McCormack.
