CHICAGO – Patrick McDonald of HollywoodChicago.com appears on “The Morning Mess” with Scott Thompson on WBGR-FM (Monroe, Wisconsin) on December 24th, 2020, reviewing the new film “News of the World,” which opened on Christmas Day and is now in theaters.

Tom Hanks is Captain Jefferson Kidd, a civil war veteran from San Antonio who travels through Texas and beyond making his living “reading the news” for an admission price in the towns along the way. He encounters a child (Helena Zengel) in his journeys, an orphan whose parents were killed by Native Americans and was raised by the tribe, only to have them slaughtered by U.S. soldiers. As no one wants to claim her, the Captain has to deliver her to a distant aunt and uncle, and the pair have several adventurous encounters along the way.
