Angelina Jolie is Hannah, a hard drinking and reckless fire fighter in Montana, a “smoke jumper” who parachutes into out-of-control forest fires. After a tragedy occurs on her watch, she is relegated to observation work in a high-rise fire tower. Meanwhile, an accountant with proof of crimes on a mob boss is on the run with his son Connor (Finn Little), being pursued by professional assassins (Aiden Gillen and Nicholas Hoult). The son manages to escape, and Hannah finds him wandering the woods, where it is now her responsibility to protect him.
