CHICAGO – Patrick McDonald of HollywoodChicago.com appears on “The Morning Mess” with Dan Baker on WBGR-FM (Monroe, Wisconsin) on November 11th, 2021, reviewing the new film by Kenneth Branagh about his childhood, “Belfast” in theaters on November 12th.

In 1969, young Buddy (Jude Hill) witnesses the escalation – in the form of a quick and violent riot – in the war between Catholics and Protestants in Belfast, Northern Ireland. This changes the dynamic in his family, as his Pa (Jamie Dornan) and Ma (Caitriona Balfe) are at a crossroads regarding staying in the city. This threatens Buddy’s relationship with his beloved Granny (Judi Dench) and Pop (Clarán Hinds), and he becomes depressed at the prospect of leaving.
