CHICAGO – Patrick McDonald of HollywoodChicago.com appears on “The Morning Mess” with Dan Baker on WBGR-FM (Monroe, Wisconsin) on February 17th, reviewing “Lucy and Desi,” a new documentary that made its debut at the 2022 Sundance Film Festival, and is streaming on Amazon Prime Video beginning March 4th.

The power couple is an endlessly fascinating story, given Lucille Ball’s roots in Depression poverty and Desi Arnaz as an expatriate from Cuba. They met improbably as B-level Hollywood actors, falling in true love and then building an entertainment empire, called Desilu, all based on the groundbreaking “I Love Lucy” TV series … they even eventually bought the same studio lot (RKO) they used to work at. Comic actor Amy Poehler, in her director debut, explores some unexpected paths along the way for the famous couple.
