CHICAGO – Patrick McDonald of HollywoodChicago.com appears on “The Morning Mess” with Scott Thompson on WBGR-FM (Monroe, Wisconsin) on June 30th, reviewing “Minions: The Rise of Gru,” the fifth film in the “Despicable Me” animated film series, in theaters beginning July 1st.
Gru (voice of Steve Carell) is an 11-year-old fan of the Vicious 6, a group of supervillains that includes Belle (Taraji P. Henson), Jean Clawed (Jean Claude Van Damme), Sister NunChuck (Lucy Lawless), Svengeance (Dolph Lundgren), Stronghold (Danny Trejo) and their leader Wild Knuckles (Alan Arkin). When the team double crosses Wild Knuckles and kicks him out of the six, Gru and his Minions have a shot a that sixth slot.
