The Legend of “The Woman King” is in a based-on-truth story about the African kingdom of Dahomey during the early 19th Century. Viola Davis is General Nanisca, who leads a battalion of woman warriors called the Agojie, who protect King Ghezo (John Boyega) and the territory from European colonists and other tribes. When a new recruit named Nawi (Thuso Mbedu) joins the ranks, she has a secret that could change everything for the general and her troops.
