Rating: 4.5/5.0 |
CHICAGO – Patrick McDonald of HollywoodChicago.com audio film review for the new feature “You Hurt My Feelings,” with Julia Louis-Dreyfus pairing a second time with writer/director Nicole Holofcener. In theaters on May 26th.
Louis-Dreyfus is Beth, a published author whose memoir had a bit of a buzz, and she’s now looking to sell her first novel, but her agent doesn’t think it’s ready. Her family includes son Elliott (Owen Teague) and her doting husband Don (Tobias Menzies), who is always her cheerleader, and heaps praise on the book while telling her to keep going. While Beth commiserates with her sister Sarah (Michaela Watkins), she overhears Don tell Sarah’s husband Mark (Adrian Moayed) that her novel is not good, and Beth feels betrayed. As the tension simmers, their husband/wife bond is challenged.
