Living the Dream House! Audio Review of ‘Barbie’
Rating: 5.0/5.0 |
CHICAGO – Patrick McDonald of HollywoodChicago.com audio film review for “Barbie,” the highly anticipated film adaptation of America’s favorite toy doll, co-written and directed by Greta Gerwig, and featuring Margot Robbie as the title character. In theaters beginning July 21st.
The personification of classic Barbie, called stereotypical Barbie in the film, is performed by Margot Robbie, living in a BarbieLand utopia run by the various other versions and occupations of the Barbies and their universe. And what is BarbieLand without Ken (Ryan Gosling,) and his other various Kens, including outsider variant Alan (Michael Cera). When a sad incident upsets the homeland balance, Weird Barbie (Kate McKinnon) tells Classic B that she has to travel to the real world to bring both worlds back to harmony. Ken tags along, and they find themselves dealing with and learning from our cruel real world, which includes the CEO of Mattel (Will Ferrell).
