CHICAGO – Patrick McDonald of HollywoodChicago.com audio film review for “Bottoms,” a dark comedy parody of the high school caste system, featuring jocks, cheerleaders, freaks and geeks, directed and co-wrttien by Emma Seligman (“Shiva Baby”). In theaters since August 25th.

The story focuses on best pals PJ (Rachel Sennott, also co-writer) and Josie (Ayo Edebiri of “The Bear”). They like girls, and they especially like the girls on their high school cheerleading squad. Looking for an opportunity to break into that impenetrable clique, they start a fight club as an extracurricular activity. As the group begins to come together, the cheerleader Isabel (Havana Rose Liu) begins a crush on Josie, and the club find themselves battling the school’s alpha quarterback, Jeff (Nicholas Galitzine). There seems to be a transition happening in this high school.
