Based on a true story, Rob Peace (Jay Will) is a African American prodigy in math and science, with a limitless future. His father Shaun (portrayed by Ejiofor) is the wrench in that future, as he is sent to prison for a crime he says he didn’t commit. Rob dedicates his life to freeing his old man, despite the protests of his mother and Shaun’s ex-wife Jackie (Mary J. Blige). White studying at Yale, Rob discovers he can make extra money applying his skills to the drug trade, which leads to unforeseen circumstances. Meanwhile, his father continues to serve time in prison.
