Join us a for an evening of one-act operas by acclaimed composer Daron Aric Hagen – Broken Pieces, Just for the Night, and Cradle Song – revealing three intimate stories of six New Yorkers. This 70 minute evening is presented with the Chicago Office of Tourism and Culture.

Musical preparation for “New York Stories” is by Scott Gilmore, Director of Musical Studies at COT, and directed by Joanie Schultz, who most recently directed the world premiere of Sarah Gubbins’ The Kid Thing, a co-production of the Chicago Dramatists and About Face Theatre.

Singing that evening are members of Chicago Opera Theater’s 2011-12 Young Artists Program: Loren Battieste, Drew Ladd, Matthew Newlin, Louise Rogan, Catheryne Shuman, and Megan Rose Williams, accompanied by Sarah Cushman on the piano. “New York Stories” is presented in collaboration with the Chicago College of Performing Arts at Roosevelt University.
