Here is the “Are We There Yet?” synopsis:

A new family is moving to TBS on Wednesday nights. The Kingston-Persons family is at the center of the new TBS original sitcom “Are We There Yet?”. It’s a new series based on the Revolution Studios movie of the same name. “Are We There Yet?” is executive produced by Ice Cube (“Friday” and “Barbershop”) and stars Terry Crews (“Everybody Hates Chris”) and Essence Atkins (“Half and Half”) as a newly married couple whose blended family faces the challenges of everyday life. “Are We There Yet?” premieres on Wednesday, June 2 with back-to-back episodes at 9 and 9:30 p.m. (ET/PT).

“Are We There Yet?” opens where the popular film left off with Nick (Crews) and Suzanne (Atkins) newly married. After six months, their family is beginning to show growing pains from the complexities of life as newlyweds to weathering the storm of teenage children. Work makes life all the more complicated. Former athlete Nick has sold his sports paraphernalia store and now works in information technology. Party planner Suzanne also has a hectic professional schedule.

The “Are We There Yet?” trailer can be watched now below.

What is the toughs aspect of family today?

The most challenging is staying connected. We are so connected today that we are disconnected. Not having any face time. Constant contact but not really. We have this notion of “friends” on “Facebook” and other “social” networking. We have resulted to texting and emailing Happy Birthday or Mother’s Day or Father’s Day wishes to family and friends. It is tough. I have boycotted some social networking venues because they are time consuming and distracting. Staying connected is imperative for me. Seeing and talking in person, not skyping or video camera conference. It is great for work but, not for family and loved ones. We have no true intimacy. We have become sort of Avatars so to speak…

Challenging aspect of family

I think families are challenged by the nuclear family breaking apart..Divorce creates chaos for the children.

Family values today

I think the most challenging aspect of the U.S. family today is instilling strong worthwhile values in the children while keeping them both safe (= properly protected from personal & financial troubles) while at the same time being individuals who CARE about the world (& its people) around them.
