Here are facts about today’s grave water crisis:

  1. Nearly 1 billion people have no access to clean water and more than 2.5 billion don’t have proper sanitation.
  2. Water-borne diseases kill 9,000 people (mostly small children) every day. That’s one person every 10 seconds.
  3. More lives are claimed each year by water-related diseases than by guns and wars.
  4. Only one in three people in the world have a toilet. More have cell phones.
  5. In many countries, the impact is felt most deeply by women who gather water, care for stricken children and cope with the ramifications of this life-crushing burden.

Do you take clean water for granted?

Yes, I think living near Lake Michigan with a constant water supply had made us forget how fortunate we are.

Yes we do!

Yes I think most of us do take water for granted. Few people think about how much we use it. We have an abundance of water supplied to us daily. Not only do we take the water supply for granted, but also forget the garbage that is produces. More people should be buying reuseable cups, so there is less garbage. It’s affecting the water supply that we love.

Water waste

I think many of us don’t realize how much water we waste when we wash dishes or even brush our teeth. We definitely take water fro granted here in the U.S.

Take Water For Granted?

Yes, most of us in the United States seem to take clean, drinkable water for granted. It is obvious in that some people let water run while they are washing dishes, shaving, brushing their teeth, waiting for the water to get hot, etc.
In some countries, people have to pay extra for drinkable water. In some places, there is a shortage of water, and people get sick because they do not have clean, safe water to drink.
If you have ever been camping and have had to pump and haul your water to your campsite, you might start to appreciate the clean and safe water that comes out of your faucet. Most people in Mexico can not drink the water that comes out of their faucets. They have to pay extra for drinkable water.
