CHICAGO – The late playwright August Wilson left a gift to the world in the form of his “American Century Cycle,” a series of plays each individually set in a decade of the 20th Century, focusing on the black experience. Chicago’s Goodman Theatre presents Wilson’s “Joe Turner’s Come and Gone,” now through May 19th, 2024 (click here).

CHICAGO – Despite having a popular talk show and continuing her reign as one of America’s favorite TV cooks, Rachael Ray still has time for charity, as demonstrated in this HollywoodChicago.com slideshow at her book signing last month at Barnes & Noble in suburban Oakbrook, Illinois.
Ray was there on December 10th, 2010, greeting fans and signing her “Look + Cook” book, but she also had time for “The Best Friends Network Charity for Pet Adoption,” donating a portion of her profits from Nutrish, her line of pet food. Volunteers and hopeful furry adoptees from the Chicago Canine Rescue Foundation were recipients of Ms. Ray’s charity.
