Here is the plot description for “Boardwalk Empire”:
Atlantic City, 1921: Though his fortunes have soared in the wake of the enactment of Prohibition, Nucky Thompson is paying a steep price for wielding ultimate power in “the world’s playground”. Following the 1920 election, Nucky finds himself the target of an investigation for voter fraud and faces not only jail but insurrection by some of those he considered his closest allies.
From Terence Winter (Emmy Award-winning writer of “The Sopranos”) and Academy Award-winning director Martin Scorsese, “Boardwalk Empire” chronicles the life and times of Enoch “Nucky” Thompson. Equal parts politician and gangster, he’s the undisputed leader of Atlantic City. The Emmy-nominated, Golden Globe-winning drama series kicks off its 12-episode second season on Sept. 25, 2011 at 9 p.m. ET/PT exclusively on HBO followed by other episodes on subsequent Sundays at the same time.
In season two, Nucky and his lieutenants (including young World War I veteran Jimmy Darmody) appear to have solidified their hold on power by rigging an election and getting a crony elected mayor. However, after a bloody KKK attack at Chalky White’s bootleg warehouse, Nucky finds his hold on Atlantic City weakened. Meanwhile, mobsters like Arnold Rothstein, Lucky Luciano, Meyer Lansky and Al Capone wait in the wings and look for the chance to grab a bigger piece of Nucky’s pie.
“Boardwalk Empire” stars Steve Buscemi as Nucky Thompson; Michael Pitt as Jimmy Darmody; Kelly Macdonald as Margaret Schroeder, Nucky’s mistress; Michael Shannon as federal agent Nelson Van Alden; Michael Kenneth Williams as Chalky White, leader of the city’s African-American community and Nucky’s bootleg point person; Gretchen Mol as Gillian, Jimmy’s showgirl mother; and Dabney Coleman as Commodore Louis Kaestner, Nucky’s mentor.
The show also features Shea Whigham as Nucky’s resentful brother Elias, the sheriff of Atlantic City; Vincent Piazza as Lucky Luciano; Stephen Graham as Al Capone; Michael Stuhlbarg as Arnold Rothstein; Aleksa Palladino as Angela Darmody, Jimmy’s wife; Anthony Laciura as Eddie Kessler, Nucky’s valet; and Jack Huston as Richard Harrow, a disfigured war veteran who’s been befriended by Jimmy.

Passes to watch the Mayor
Daily was only as corrupt as any other politician had the ability to be.
Stephen Jacobs
Chicago mayor/Boardwalk Empire
Mayor Daley was corrupt. He just kept his hands clean, sort of like Nucky Thompson. He does enough “good” to keep the people content enought to keep him in office, but still does his dirt as well.

Corrupt
Corrupt! Anybody who has to bulldoze an airport in the middle of the night to get their way is surely corrupt -Jeannie Malave
Clean
until you turn your back.
Boardwalk Empire passes
This is Chicago, there’s no cut and dry clean or corrupt. He was our mayor and a legacy. Corruptly clean? Cleanly corrupt?
Let’s call it a gray area, or maybe murky..

no one is ever 100% clean
no one is ever 100% clean and Daley is certainly no exception. However, I don’t know if I’d go as far as saying he was corrupt.

Mayor (Richard M.) Daley Clean & or Corrupt?
I say Corrupt, that is because I’m from the south side of Chicago where my grandmother use to call him when she didn’t like something that was going on. She knew him when they were much younger. The power that Daley had in Chicago has been known for many years. I say corrupt because that has been the Chicago way of doing things.
Kathy D’Alexander Love…Empire!!!!!!!!!!!!
Cleanish
I think he was a fantastic mayor, but politics is politics. Every politician does some shady things. They all make their best deals, sometimes they are viewed by the public, as corrupt. - Jennifer Kostanski
Mayor (Richard M.) Daley (previously in Chicago): clean or corru
I’d say corrupt, but what politician isn’t corrupt?
