CHICAGO – As promised in our article yesterday about the new “The Avengers” poster, a new trailer has been released today for the upcoming Marvel film that is to be released on May 4. The new trailer gives a further look into the recruiting of the Avengers Initiative, as well as an all new look at the action and crazy alien warships attacking earth.

With only two months standing between us and the premiere of this film, the new trailer lasts a full two-and-a-half minutes and gives us plenty to be excited about. From the formation of the initiative, to the team working together, to Tony Stark telling the group he’s “bringing the party to you,” this new trailer makes it easy to be excited for the new film.

“The Avengers” stars Robert Downey Jr. Scarlett Johansson, Chris Evans, Mark Ruffalo, Chris Hemsworth, Jeremy Renner, Tom Hiddleston, and Samuel L. Jackson and it is directed by Joss Whedon. If you haven’t had the chance to see the new trailer, take a look at it right here:

Meh. I’m not sure which

Meh. I’m not sure which trailer is less inspiring, Dark Knight Rises, or this one.

Nolan has an exemplary track record, so a shaky trailer only worries me a little, but not enough for me to doubt the quality of the film that will ensue. In Chris I trust. Rises will be just fine.

As for Whedon, well, Serenity is the only real film he’s directed, and I’ll just simply say I wasn’t its or his biggest fan after the credits rolled. And while I have enjoyed some of his other work, namely Dr. Horrible, there’s really not much to go on. Anway I’m very concerned this movie will embrace its inner Marvel and get too convoluted to accomplish anything significant plot-wise. No track record for Whedon, no benefit of the doubt.

I’m going in skeptical on the Avengers, and no one can stop me.
