Exclusive Portrait: 1990s Queen Danielle Fishel of ‘Boy Meets World’
CHICAGO – Fans of the 1990s series “Boy Meets World” would probably still like to meet the actress that portrayed Topanga, Danielle Fishel. For seven seasons, she was the dream girl for the the title “Boy,” Cory Matthews (Ben Savage), and has recently wrote her memoir, called “Normally This Would Be Cause for Concern.” She is also featured on the 2014 Disney Channel spin-off, “Girl Meets World.”
Danielle was ten years old when she began doing commercials, and was 12 when landed the role of Topanga Lawrence on “Boy Meets World.” What began as a one-off role became a seven season run for the character, and Danielle made the cover of Seventeen Magazine and was voted one of the “The Hottest 21 Stars under 21” in Teen People Magazine. After the show ended, she appeared in a few films, including “National Lampoon’s Dorm Daze” (2003). She also hosted several TV shows, including Style Network’s “The Dish,” “The Fuse 20” and MSN TV’s “Last Night on TV.” In the Disney Channel spinoff, “Girl Meets World,” she reprises her Topanga character, now married to Cory and raising a daughter of their own.
Danielle Fishel was in Chicagoland in September to sign her book and greet fans, in an event sponsored by Anderson’s Bookshop of Naperville, Ill. Joe Arce of HollywoodChicago.com was there to capture this Exclusive Portrait.
