CHICAGO – In 2010, the cast of the reality show “Jersey Shore” was named one of Barbara Walter’s Ten Most Fascinating People. Among those fascinating folks is Nicole “Snooki” Polizzi, arguably one of the most familiar of that show’s regulars. Her new book is “Strong is the New Sexy: My Kickass Story on Getting my ‘Formula for Fierce’” and she made an appearance to promote that title at the Old Orchard Barnes & Noble in Skokie, Ill.
Snooki Polizzi was born in Santiago, Chile, and was adopted into an Italian-American family from New Jersey. She received her famous nickname in middle school, and began her reality TV career after high school on the MTV show “Is She Really Going Out with Him?” Soon thereafter she was cast in 2010 on “Jersey Shore,” the cult reality show, and became the breakout character. The show was followed up in 2012 with “Snooki & JWoww,” a premise that had two of the Jersey Shore gals living together. Snooki is currently married to Jionni LaValle, with two children, and “Strong is the New Sexy” is her second book.
