CHICAGO – There is no better time to take in a stage play that is based in U.S. history, depicting the battle between fact and religion. CHICAGO – The film “Eddie the Eagle” soared at the box office this weekend, and one of the huge stars in it is Hugh Jackman, the Australian-born movie and theater icon. He was in Chicago on February 16th, 2016, to walk the Red Carpet for the film, and HollywoodChicago.com was there to both do video interviews and photograph the event.
Born in Sydney, Jackman also studied communications at the University of Technology at Sydney and became an actor by taking a drama course in his final year. He started out in musical theater, and broke through in 1999 performing “Oklahoma” in London. The same year he was cast as Wolverine in “X-Men” (2000). He has portrayed the character in several films, and has also starred in “Van Helsing” (2004), “Real Steel” (2011) and “Chappie” (2015). He also notably starred on Broadway as the originator of the Peter Allen role in “The Boy from Oz” (2002).
