Exclusive Photo: Amber Tamblyn for Her New Book ‘Era of Ignition’
CHICAGO – How does a person reflect on their moment in the world? Actress Amber Tamblyn (“Joan of Arcadia”) found herself in such a point in life. Her new book, “Era of Ignition,” reflects upon her journey and in a macro sense, America’s journey in transition. Joe Arce took an Exclusive Photo of her at an event sponsored by Anderson’s Bookshop.
While in her late twenties, Ms. Tamblyn was facing a downturn in her career, and finding her dream of being a film writer/director more and more elusive. This led to her personal “Era of Ignition,” where a call to action and a personal upheaval paralleled what she felt was the country’s “Era” as well. She also helped to found the “Time’s Up” Movement, the sexual harassment defense fund that percolated after #MeToo. In “Era of Ignition,” she addresses gender inequality through the prism of societal judgement, ongoing misogyny and pay/personal choice discrimination. The book is both a intimate meditation and manifesto of public reckoning.
