Film News: Closing Night of 2019 Cinepocalypse in Chicago is ‘Airheads’ on June 20, 2019

CHICAGO – Has it been a week already? Has it been 25 years already? The 2019 Cinepocalypse Film Festival is drawing to a close with the film “Airheads” (1994), celebrating its 25th Anniversary. The All-Star cast, in their younger days, includes Brendan Frasier, Steve Buscemi, Adam Sandler, Chris Farley, Joe Mantegna and Judd Nelson. Director Michael Lehmann (“Heathers”) will appear on behalf of the film at the historic Music Box Theatre in Chicago, with a Closing Night after party to follow. Twenty-five years after Chazz (Frasier), Rex (Buscemi), & Pip (Sandler) shredded our minds and held us hostage with squirt guns, The Lone Rangers are back to close Cinepocalypse – screening on a 35mm print most likely for the first time since 1994. The three lovable buffoons on a mission to get their band’s demo played on the radio at any cost. This spoof of heavy-metal culture also respects the vitality and pent-up passion behind it, and features an amazing supporting cast. Cinepocalypse proudly presents the movie that reminds us “Wrong answer, dickhead. Lemmy is God!”

Since 2017, Cinepocalypse has terrorized Chicago audiences at the Music Box Theatre with an annual slate of premiere films, guests, and bloodcurdling entertainment. Named a top genre festival in the world by MovieMaker Magazine, the festival features retrospects, regional premieres, special guests, and repertory (both 35mm and 70mm) screenings.
