Podtalk: Singer Kevin Pollack Brings His Swing to ‘Holiday’
CHICAGO – When we last talked to Kevin Pollack, Chicago’s answer to the Sultan of Swing, he was embarking on his once-a-month song reveal for the fall of 2019. The whole thing culminated in the release of “Holiday,” a feeling-the-vibe celebration of taking a break. !—break—>
Kevin Pollack is a fixture around Chicago with his acting and singing, especially through his role as Jake in The Blues Brothers tribute act The Blooze Brothers. Lately he’s been writing and performing his own music, beginning in 2018 with “Something Good (Is Coming Down),” a song he wrote as a gift to his wife at their wedding. After getting some local traction for that single, including some radio and stadium play, he put together his once-a-month strategy for 2019, and kicked it off with “Man About Town.” To watch the video for that single, click here.

“Holiday” is an evolution in his “NuTown” sound, an amalgamation of the “new” sounds of today combined with a Motown sensibility. This bright and instantly move-to-the-groove song both celebrates the “time away” and gives it the sensation that is holiday. Inspired by a vacation with his wife, Pollack co-wrote the song with Mike Flynn, and it will be included in the three-track mini EP, due next month.
In the following Podtalk, Patrick McDonald of HollywoodChicago.com talks to Kevin Pollack about his swing sound and its inspirations, and his “Holiday.”
