Film News: 2022 Chicago Critics Film Festival Opens with “Cha Cha Real Smooth” on May 13

CHICAGO – Another great film festival is back, as the full Chicago Critics Film Festival opens on May 13th, 2022, with “Cha Cha Real Smooth” at the Music Box Theatre. The Fest runs through May 19th, click CCFF for schedule and ticket info.

“Cha Cha Real Smooth” won the Audience Favorite Award at the 2022 Sundance Film Festival, and the director/featured actor Cooper Raiff will make an appearance on behalf of the film. Opening Night will also feature “Watcher” by Chloe Okuno and “Speak No Evil” by Christian Tafdrup. The Closing Night film will be “I Love My Dad” – the Narrative Features top film at SXSW – and will feature appearances by lead actors Patton Oswalt and James Morosini (also writer/director). The 9th Chicago Critics Film Festival returns after a truncated 2021 event and the 2020 pandemic cancellation. It is the the only Film Festival curated by film critics, and highlights the 2022 films from the early year festivals like Sundance and SXSW.
