CHICAGO – The 8th Annual Irish Movie Hooley … a Hooley is a rowdy party … will be a bit different this year. Moving from its familiar Loop location, the Hooley will screen at two historic suburban theaters on consecutive weekends. From September 16th-18th, 2022, the Hooley will be at the Lake Theatre in Oak Park, Illinois, and from September 23rd-25th have screenings at The Wilmette Theatre in Wilmette. The Irish Movie Hooley highlights three films, and will give both locations the same programming. On Friday, September 16th and 23rd, the film is “Extra Ordinary,” a supernatural comedy featuring Will Forte. On Saturday the 17th and 24th, “Redemption of a Rogue” will screen, with its award-winning theme of the prodigal son. And finally on the 18th and 25th, “The Boys from Kingbridge,” following four lifelong friends as they grow up in the Bronx, from grammar school to 9/11.

The Founder and the Producer of festival is Mike Houlihan, who is a fixture in the Chicago entertainment scene as an actor, stand-up comedian, radio personality and filmmaker. In the 1990s, he did a one man show called “Goin’ East on Ashland” that ran for six years, and had a world premiere in 2000 with his play “Mickey Finn” at Chicago’s Royal George Theatre. In 2009, he wrote and was featured in the film “Tapioca.” and released a documentary in 2013 entitled “Our Irish Cousins.” His latest documentary is “In Search of Weeping Jim.”
