Brendan Fraser portrays Charlie, an obese recluse who teaches online English courses. When his nurse friend Liz (Hong Chau) diagnoses Charlie with congestive heart failure because of his weight, instead of going to the hospital Charlie decides to spend his dying days making amends with the former people in his life, including his estranged daughter Ellie (Sadie Sink) and ex wife Mary (Samantha Morton). This leads to some uncomfortable truths revealed, a portion of which involves a door to door missionary named Thomas (Ty Simpkins).

”The Whale” is currently in theaters. Featuring Brendan Fraser, Sadie Sink, Ty Simpkins, Samantha Morton and Hong Chau. Screenplay adapted by Samuel D. Hunter, from his stage play. Directed by Darren Aronofsky. Rated “R”
