CHICAGO – Patrick McDonald of HollywoodChicago.com appears on “The Morning Mess” with Dan Baker on WBGR-FM (Monroe, Wisconsin) on March 21st, 2024, reviewing the new streaming series “Manhunt” – based on the bestseller by James L. Swanson – currently streaming on Apple TV+.
The Civil War has just ended, and Abraham Lincoln (Hamish Linklater) is taking in a play with his wife Mary (Lily Taylor) at Ford’s Theater. On a big laugh line, John Wilkes Booth (Anthony Boyle) … a Southern sympathizer and actor by profession … shoots Lincoln dead and manages to escape Washington before Secretary of Defense Edwin M. Stanton (Tobias Menzies) can shut down the city’s borders. The “Manhunt” is on, even with Booth hobbling on a broken leg.
