CHICAGO – Patrick McDonald of HollywoodChicago.com appears on “The Morning Mess” with Scott Thompson on WBGR-FM (Monroe, Wisconsin) on October 10th, reviewing the film “Piece by Piece,” the Pharrell Williams story, told in the animation style of Legos. In theaters on October 11th.

Pharrell Williams is best known for the song HAPPY, but behind the scenes he is considered one of the most influential producers of hits in the 21st Century, which was news to me. His life began in Virginia Beach, a lucky occurrence because even though he grew up in the so-called harshest part of town in public housing, he still managed to find his niche as a musician and become proficient (with his many collaborators) in producing “beats” and “hooks,” the magic behind hip hop music. As his success and reputation grew, along the way … as in any life … their were peaks and valleys. HIs peaks, however, have influenced the culture for over three decades.

”Piece by Piece” is in theaters on October 11th. Featuring Pharrell Williams, Morgan Neville, Gwen Stefani, Snoop Dogg, Justin Timberlake and Busta Rhymes. Written by Morgan Neville, Oscar Vasquez and Aaron Wiekenden. Directed by Morgan Neville. Rated “PG
