Film Review: Adam Sandler Pulls Our Chains in ‘That’s My Boy’
Submitted by PatrickMcD on June 15, 2012 - 4:26pmCHICAGO – Adam Sandler is just freaking with us now. His goal is obviously to create the raunchiest, sociopathic and off-putting comedies of all time, and “That’s My Boy” belongs in his Hall of Fame. The A-list cast helps out, including Andy Sandberg, James Caan, Susan Sarandon and Leighton Meester.
Interview: Andy Samberg Talks Up the Funny in ‘That’s My Boy’
Submitted by PatrickMcD on June 14, 2012 - 7:07pmCHICAGO – As the chorus of “Goodbye Ruby Tuesday” signaled the recent season finale of “Saturday Night Live,” it was Kristen Wiig that said farewell to the show, but not before a lingering twirl from Andy Samberg, who just announced his own departure. The next phase for Samberg begins with a co-starring role beside Adam Sandler, in the film “That’s My Boy.”
Blu-ray Review: Adam Sandler’s ‘Jack and Jill’ Sucks Twice as Much
Submitted by BrianTT on March 5, 2012 - 2:33pmCHICAGO – Adam Sandler has become such a lazy filmmaker that he’s now just building films around his personal vacation schedule. He wanted to take an outdoors-y vacation with his friends and the result was “Grown Ups.” He wanted to go to Hawaii and the result was “Just Go With It.” He wanted to take a cruise and we have to sit through “Jack and Jill.”
Film Review: Adam Sandler Sticks to Formula in ‘Jack and Jill’
Submitted by PatrickMcD on November 11, 2011 - 8:44amCHICAGO – No one will ever accuse Adam Sandler of not knowing his audience and the reason they keep coming back to his “Happy Madison” genre of films – he delivers the oddball characters, lots of bodily fluids/sounds, physical beatings and the know-it-all straight man. Add the gooey sentiment and out spews the latest, “Jack and Jill.”
Blu-Ray Review: Kevin James Almost Saves Inconsistent ‘Zookeeper’
Submitted by BrianTT on October 24, 2011 - 12:30pmCHICAGO – “Zookeeper” is a weird, weird movie. It was heavily advertised as a family film about talking animals but it’s more of a Kevin James romantic comedy and even features some dark material about the treatment of animals. In other words, it’s wildly inconsistent and sometimes just strange. Any movie that can feature a Gorilla getting a brain freeze at TGIFridays next to a standard romantic comedy love triangle next to an abuse subplot straight out of “Rise of the Planet of the Apes” is a weird, weird movie. James and Rosario Dawson are so incredibly likable that they keep it watchable but the movie just never clicks because it never picked an audience and, therefore, satisfies none of them.
Film Review: Torturous, Awful ‘Bucky Larson: Born to Be a Star’
Submitted by BrianTT on September 9, 2011 - 1:27pmCHICAGO – Adam Sandler lost a bet. How else to explain the existence of “Bucky Larson: Born to Be a Star,” a movie that no one but the man behind Happy Madison would possibly finance? If you took this script (co-written by Little Nicky himself) to any sane film producer, they would assume you were pulling a prank.
Film Review: Kevin James in ‘Zookeeper’ is Zany Family Fun
Submitted by PatrickMcD on July 8, 2011 - 7:15amCHICAGO – Not being familiar with the Kevin James filmography really helped in assessing his latest, “Zookeeper.” His appeal is very evident, and the filmmakers do some funny bits with the old “talking animal” routine.
Blu-Ray Review: Adam Sandler’s ‘Just Go with It’ Not Worth the Time
Submitted by PatrickMcD on June 9, 2011 - 12:26pmCHICAGO – In the realm of wasting time watching terrible movies, Adam Sandler provides a nearly 24 hour festival. His latest effort, just released on Blu-ray and DVD, is the horrendous, talent wasting “Just Go with It.”
Film Review: Adam Sandler, Jennifer Aniston Hit Career Lows in ‘Just Go With It’
Submitted by BrianTT on February 11, 2011 - 9:13amCHICAGO – If you have a masochistic desire to see unlikable morons on a vacation you probably can’t afford, check out one of the worst movies in a long time, Adam Sandler’s horrendous “Just Go With It.”
