CHICAGO – There is no better time to take in a stage play that is based in U.S. history, depicting the battle between fact and religion. Blu-ray Review: ‘Chernobyl Diaries’ Fails to Transcend Offensive Premise
Submitted by mattmovieman on October 25, 2012 - 8:49amCHICAGO – There’s something very wrong with Bradley Parker’s “Chernobyl Dairies,” and the problem is right there in its title. The very notion of setting a knee-jerk horror film at the site of the 1986 Chernobyl disaster is so offensive that it’s bound to halt many moviegoers from judging the picture on its own terms. It’s the cinematic equivalent of an obscenely tasteless haunted house.

Box Office News: ‘Men in Black 3’ Dethrones ‘The Avengers’ From Top Spot
Submitted by BrianTT on May 28, 2012 - 6:14pmCHICAGO – Perhaps to avoid the scorching heat, a lot of people went to the movies this Memorial Day weekend and two films dominated the marketplace. “Men in Black 3” finally dethroned the champ with an impressive $55 million over the three days (and $70 million over the holiday four-day weekend) compared to the $36.8 million brought in by “Marvel’s The Avengers.” The Will Smith - Tommy Lee Jones flick is definitely a hit but it has a ways to go to approach the $1.3 billion worldwide already amassed by one of the biggest films of all time. (For the record, “Men in Black 3” has already made $203 million worldwide.)
Film Review: Inconsistent ‘Chernobyl Diaries’ Still Finds Effective Ways to Creep You Out
Submitted by BrianTT on May 24, 2012 - 11:01pmCHICAGO – Bradley Parker’s “Chernobyl Diaries” has just enough personality, confident technical elements, and outright weirdness to make it a trip worth taking for horror fans. The fact that the parts of the production that undeniably work couldn’t be wrangled into something that’s more competent overall is disappointing but there’s more to like here than one would expect.
