CHICAGO – Patrick McDonald of HollywoodChicago.com appears on “The Morning Mess” with Scott Thompson on WBGR-FM (Monroe, Wisconsin) on February 18th, 2021, reviewing the new TV series “Young Rock,” Tuesdays on NBC-TV.
BELVIDERE, ILL – Iconic punk rockers Sum 41 brought their “Order in Decline World Tour” to the Apollo Theatre AC in Belvidere, Illinois, on December 15th, 2019. Singer Deryck Whibley and the band selected crowd favorites from their extensive catalogue of songs and kept the crowd rocking and thrashing all night. Sum 41’s performance exuded catchy guitar riffs and contagious frantic energy, along with lyrics that the crowd knew by heart.
CHICAGO – Combining punk rock, neo-Nazism and horror is not an easy balancing act, but filmmaker Jeremy Saulnier (“Blue Ruin”) was up to the task. As a former punker himself, it was natural to transfer the energy of that music, and translate it into a slash and burn scary movie. It’s time to step into the ‘Green Room.’
CHICAGO – There are rock stars, and then there are the women of “The Runaways.” The girl group that spawned Joan Jett was also notable for proving that punk rock was not just reserved for dudes. Lita Ford, the lead guitarist, has just written a memoir of those heady days – “Living Like a Runaway” – and appeared recently at North Central College in Naperville, Ill., at an event sponsored by Anderson’s Bookshop.
