The Lion King 2: Simba's Pride

Blu-ray Review: ‘The Lion King 1 1/2,’ ‘The Lion King 2: Simba’s Pride’

The Lion King 1.5

CHICAGO – Disney’s “The Lion King” is one of the most beloved properties in the history of the influential movie studio. It was such a phenomenon that it spawned a number of spin-offs, including a Broadway show and two straight-to-video sequels, “The Lion King 2: Simba’s Pride” (1998) and “The Lion King 1 1/2” (2004). The two mediocre sequels were available in a “Lion King” Blu-ray box set but have just been made available solo for the first time. Both are just OK, good for the little ones who have seen the original movie 100 times but otherwise for hardcore Disney collectors only.
