Frances McDormand portrays Fern, a person living off the grid and traveling the country as a drifter AKA Nomad. She encounters her fellow travelers … many real nomads portraying themselves, and the always reliable David Strathairn along for the ride, as well as her family who is perplexed about her life and the philosophers along the way.
