CHICAGO – Patrick McDonald of HollywoodChicago.com appears on “The Morning Mess” with Dan Baker on WBGR-FM (Monroe, Wisconsin) on November 18th, 2021, reviewing the new film adapted and directed by Jane Campion, “The Power of the Dog” in select theaters, before streaming on Netflix December 1st.
The film is the story of Montana ranchers in 1925 who are brothers named Phil (Benedict Cumberbatch) and George (Jesse Plemons). They are at odds against one other because George has married Rose (Kirsten Dunst), a widow with a college age son Peter (Kodi Smit-McPhee). It turns out Peter is an effeminate gay man, who Phil begins to torture with cruelty. In the meantime, Rose is drinking her way through her marriage, and the forces collide as they reveal some truths.
