Entertainment News: ‘The Social Network,’ ‘The Kids Are All Right’ Among Winners at 68th Golden Globes
CHICAGO – Two 2010 films, “The Social Network” and “The Kids Are All Right,” plus TV’s “Glee” and “Boardwalk Empire” were multiple winners at the 68th Annual Golden Globe Awards. Colin Firth (”The King’s Speech”) and Natalie Portman (”Black Swan”) also won the top film actor and actress Golden Globe in the drama category.
There were few surprises for the Golden Globe Awards given on Sunday night, as 2010 favorites like “The Social Network,” “Glee” and the supporting performances in “The Fighter” followed through on predicted wins. “Boardwalk Empire,” the new series on HBO, took Best Dramatic Series and a TV Best Dramatic Actor win for featured lead performer Steve Buscemi. Veteran TV star Katey Sagal was one of the few surprise winners of the night, taking the TV Best Dramatic Actress Globe home for her role in “Sons of Anarchy.”

Going into the Oscar season, the momentum for The Social Network continued, taking four awards, including Best Picture Drama. The Kids are All Right took Best Picture Comedy or Musical, and Annette Bening won for Best Actress Comedy or Musical.
Unexpected wins included the little seen “Carlos,” on the Sundance Channel, for Best Mini Series or TV Movie, an award of any kind for the derided film “Burlesque” (Best Original Song for “You Haven’t Seen the Last of Me”) and Laura Linney for TV Best Actress Comedy or Musical on the new Showtime series, “The Big C.”
