Film News: Sundance Film Festival USA to Play at Chicago’s Music Box Theatre
CHICAGO – A little piece of Sundance is coming to Chicago for the third year in a row. The Sundance Film Festival USA is a one day tour of films in different cities across America that brings one of the biggest film festivals of the year even closer to the rest of us.
For the third straight year, the Music Box Theatre in Chicago will host a movie playing at Sundance for one night only. In the past two years, the films “Jack Goes Boating” and “The Music Never Stopped” made their way from Sundance to Chicago and this year the film “2 Days in New York” will come to the windy city. Starring, written, and directed by Julie Delpy and also starring Chris Rock, “2 Days in New York” will play at the Music Box on Thursday January 26, 2012. Special guests will appear with the film, but none have been officially announced yet.
The Sundance Film Festival USA takes place on the second Thursday of the Sundance Film Festival and sends filmmakers and actors across the country to show their film in another city filled with excited fans. This way, if you can’t make it to Utah, a little piece of Sundance can come to you.
In a press release this morning, Sundance USA 2012 was explained: “On January 26, the second Thursday of the Sundance Film Festival, nine filmmakers will each travel from Utah to one of the following cities: Ann Arbor, MI; Boston, MA; Brooklyn, NY; Chicago, IL; Houston, TX; Nashville, TN; Orlando, FL; San Francisco, CA; and Tucson, AZ. Their travel is courtesy of Official Airline Sponsor Southwest Airlines. In each city, the filmmaker will introduce and screen their film and participate in a Q&A with the audience. A video featuring highlights from this year’s Sundance Film Festival will precede each screening.”
Tickets for the show are $12 and are currently on sale. If you want to see “2 Days in New York” at the Music Box, you can find tickets here: Sundance USA 2012 Tickets
