CHICAGO – YIPPIE YIPPIE YIPPIE Fest it’s back, the 8th annual YippieFest is for the first time at the historic Chopin Theatre in Wicker Park. For three days – August 23rd, 24th and 25th, 2024 – the fest will present an unending variety of acts, plays, sketch and other stage performance arts. CHICAGO – When life gives you lemons, you make lemonade—or in my case, when life gives you a denied photo pass, you grab a disposable camera and go full 1990s at a Green Day concert. I was all set to capture every sweat drop and guitar riff from the photo pit, but ironically this photographer was invited to the show without his camera.

Headliner Lil Uzi Vert

CHICAGO – The iconic Milwaukee Summerfest for 2024 wrapped up last month, and photographer and Music Editor Jeff “Doc” Doles was on hand to provide an on-stage view with the following “Best-of” Exclusive Photo Slideshow. From headliner Lil Uzi Vert to classic acts like Living Colour and the BoDeans, the event drew music fans from all over the world.

CHICAGO – Scheduled within the recent 2024 Chicago Critics Film Festival was “Shorts Program #2.” During that event … curated by CCFF shorts programmer Collin Souter … the Windy City was introduced to Filmmaker Sarah Lasley, with her surreal, expressive and brilliant short “Welcome to the Enclave.”

NEW YORK – Last week, the competition awards were conferred at the (click) Tribeca Festival and the top narrative films were “Griffin in Summer” (U.S.) and “Bikechess” (International). While different in story arc, both films involved individuals facing a truth they inherently knew but never expected to encounter.

NEW YORK – It’s over, but the memories echo. The 23rd edition of the Tribeca Festival wrapped up on June 16th, 2024, but not without a sendoff celebrating Melissa Etheridge’s new documentary, the 25th Anniversary retrospect of the iconic series, “The Sopranos,” and a nod to fest co-founder/savior of democracy Robert De Niro.

NEW YORK – They’re celebrities, silly, and they were on the Red Carpet at the 2024 Tribeca Festival. Jake Gyllenhaal was representing his new miniseries on Apple TV+ called “Presumed Innocent.” It was Dakota Johnson talking about her highly anticipated film “Daddio.” And finally, Andy Cohen talking about talking with Anderson Cooper.

NEW YORK – It’s the middle of the 23rd Tribeca Film Festival and the narrative feature films … with an emphasis on the independent … are in competition. Themes of transition are strong in this year’s line-up, as story tellers have emerged from the pandemic years, and the reflections thereafter.

CHICAGO – The Red Carpet was for rock … er, cinema … stars at the the 60th Chicago International Film Festival (CIFF) Summer Gala, and the directors, actors and film VIPs were present and feted. Patrick McDonald and Photographer Joe Arce of HollywoodChicago.com were also there, and got the stars to pose and talk.
