CHICAGO – One of the buzziest films of the Awards season is “The Whale,” featuring an high-level performance by Brendan Fraser and directed by Darren Aronofsky (“Requiem for a Dream,” “The Wrestler”). The 58th Chicago International Film Festival (CIFFl had “The Whale” as a showcase, and Aronofsky walked the Red Carpet.

“The Whale” is the story of Charlie (Fraser), a reclusive English teacher living with severe obesity who attempts to reconnect with his estranged teenage daughter (Sadie Sink) for one last chance at redemption. “The Whale” is an intimate and captivating drama about sexuality and addiction, body and spirit, and is based on the acclaimed stage play by Samuel D. Hunter, who adapted his own work for the screen.
