Red Carpet: OPENING NIGHT with 'Beautiful Boy' at the 54th Chicago International Film Festival
CHICAGO – It was with much anticipation that the 54th Chicago International Film Festival launched with a special screening of “Beautiful Boy,” starring Steve Carell and Timotheé Chamalet. Walking the Red Carpet was one of the supporting cast members, Andre Royo, and the director of the film, Felix Van Groeningen.
The highly anticipated film is based on the true story of David (Steve Carell) and Nic (Timotheé Chalamet) Scheff, a father and son whose relationship is challenged by Nic’s overriding and difficult-to-shake drug addiction. The film is gritty and never blinks, in addition to punctuating the notion that despite a family’s socio-economic condition, no one is immune to the destructive powers of a person unable to rein in addictive needs. Steve Carell and Timotheé Chalamet create intuitive chemistry as a father and son. The film opens in limited markets this weekend (Oct. 12, 2018) and in Chicago on October 19th.
