Pride2024: Jerry Nunn, Co-Sponsor of 1st LGBTQ+ Critic’s Choice Celebration, June 7, 2024
CHICAGO – When one of Chicago’s own critic/entertainment reporters is instrumental in achieving a LGBTQ+ celebration during Pride Month, it’s a cause for OUR PRIDE. Jerry Nunn is that achiever, and he will oversee … as Co-Sponsor and Programmer … the Inaugural Critic’s Choice Celebration of LGBTQ+ Cinema & Television on June 7th, 2024, at the Los Angeles Fairmont Hotel. Besides the creme of presenters and honorees scheduled for the event, it is Jerry who spearheaded the effort to make this celebration happen.
Hosted by Sherry Cola, it will take place in honor of the finest achievements from the LGBTQ+ entertainment community, both in front of and behind the camera, as well as showcase emerging and established talent. Honorees include Abe Sylvia, Carl Clemons-Hopkins, Chris Perfetti, Fellow Travelers producers Ron Nyswaner, Matt Bomer, Daniel Minahan, and Robbie Rogers, Fernando Carsa, George Takei, Henry R. Muñoz III, Kristen Kish, Luke Gilford, Michaela Jaé Rodriguez, Nathan Lane, Oliver Hermanus, RuPaul’s Drag Race, Shakina, and the We’re Here team Johnnie Ingram, Stephen Warren, Peter LoGreco, Sasha Velour, Priyanka, Jaida Essence Hall, and Latrice Royale.

A partial list of presenters include Alan Yang and Ron Funches of “Loot,” actor Charlize Theron, actor Greg Berlanti, Karamo Brown of “Queer Eye,” singer Ricky Martin, journalist Ronan Farrow, actor Sean Hayes and Sheryl Lee Ralph (“Abbott Elementary”).
The event marks the latest addition to the Critic’s Choice Association of Celebrations, along with Latino, Asian Pacific and Black Cinema & Television, that aim to shine a light on work from historically underrepresented talent. It was Jerry Nunn who first presented the idea to the Association, scheduled to launch last year, but was pushed back due to the Writers and SAG strikes of 2023.
Jerry Nunn has been an entertainment writer, critic and journalist based in Chicago (“Windy City Times,” among many other publications). Born and raised in Tennessee, he came to the Chicago in the 1990s and has since established himself as one of the most visible reporters on the scene. Chicago is proud of you, Jerry.
