CHICAGO – The “Best of the Midwest,” the Awards Ceremony of Chicago’s Midwest Film Festival, were presented on November 3rd, 2022, at CineCity Studios in Chicago. The Grand Prize film was the short “Period Drama,” a clever twist on a woman’s coming of age. Emma Thatcher was a two-trophy BMA recipient, garnering Best Actress and Best Director for her debut feature “Provo.”

CHICAGO – The outsider point of view will highlight the Midwest Film Festival at their First Tuesday “Alternative Takes,” beginning at 7pm on May 3rd at the Gene Siskel Film Center. Nine short films with with distinct atmospheres and unique points of view will screen, featuring a range of dark humor, heartfelt expressions and a mix of experiences for the senses. CHICAGO – In a sure sign that production is ramping up in Chicago once again, the pilot sci-fi film “Wizdom” – the first step in a larger project – will film in the city the week of February 21st, 2022. “Wizdom” is co-created and co-written by Ashton Swinford, who also will portray the lead role.

CHICAGO – The Midwest Film Festival is celebrating the season with their upcoming “Summer Bash & Comedy Screening” on July 28th, 2021 (7pm), at the Chi-Town Drive In. The event will feature a meet-and-greet and an evening of funny-bone short films, including “Open House,” a directorial debut by Mikaela McParlan.
