CHICAGO – The outsider point of view will highlight the Midwest Film Festival at their First Tuesday “Alternative Takes,” beginning at 7pm on May 3rd at the Gene Siskel Film Center. Nine short films with with distinct atmospheres and unique points of view will screen, featuring a range of dark humor, heartfelt expressions and a mix of experiences for the senses. CHICAGO – In a sure sign that production is ramping up in Chicago once again, the pilot sci-fi film “Wizdom” – the first step in a larger project – will film in the city the week of February 21st, 2022. “Wizdom” is co-created and co-written by Ashton Swinford, who also will portray the lead role.

Using the safest protocols for gatherings, the Midwest Film Festival presents the Best of Midwest Awards on February 1st, 2022, and it will be an in-person event for the first time in three years. CHICAGO – The Midwest Film Festival is celebrating the season with their upcoming “Summer Bash & Comedy Screening” on July 28th, 2021 (7pm), at the Chi-Town Drive In. The event will feature a meet-and-greet and an evening of funny-bone short films, including “Open House,” a directorial debut by Mikaela McParlan. CHICAGO – The filmmaker’s journey to premiere is different for all, but no one has seemed to symbolize it better than Logan Stone, the director and co-writer of the new release “Exodus.” The film will open in theaters and Apple TV+ streaming on March 19th, 2021.

CHICAGO – Getting through Year 2020 intact would prove to be a major accomplishment for any monthly film festival, but the Midwest Film Festival (MFF) did it with both style and their trademark sense of a film community during a year where that was missing for so many.
