Report: Dakota Fanning in Negotiations For ‘Twilight’ Sequel ‘New Moon’ Without Audition
CHICAGO – With the casting rumors debunked about “High School Musical” star Vanessa Hudgens potentially appearing in “Twilight” sequel “New Moon,” another hot casting scoop just sprouted up. The 14-year-old (hey, she’s almost 15) child star Dakota Fanning is in negotiations to play Jane opposite Robert Pattinson and friends in “New Moon”.

The news began circulating minutes ago following an exclusive report from Marc Malkin of E! Online. He cited anonymous sources. His report states:
“There were no auditions,” a source reveals. “They just offered it to [Dakota Fanning] outright and now they’re in negotiations. They’ve been going back and forth.”
Jane is a member of Italy’s Volturi: the most deadly group of bloodsucking killers in author Stephenie Meyer’s best-selling series. In [a] casting notice … [that surfaced in early Jan. 2009], Jane is described as a petite blonde with a “Botticelli angel-like face … [and] crimson irises”.
While fellow Volturi guards Demetri and Felix “are three times the size of her, they are terrified of her,” the casting notice reads.
Despite visceral reactions to the concept of Vanessa Hudgens appearing in “New Moon,” many readers of the Meyer books and watchers of the first “Twilight” film feel that Fanning would fit in the second film like a glass slipper. A fan-created online petition has been started to endorse Fanning’s inclusion in “New Moon,” which is directed by Chris Weitz.
“Pushing Daisies” star Kristin Chenoweth has also been suggested by Entertainment Weekly for the role. As the studio did with Taylor Lautner, will Summit Entertainment give fans what they want yet again? So far, “New Moon” has confirmed Robert Pattinson, Kristen Stewart, Ashley Greene, Nikki Reed, Jackson Rathbone, Kellan Lutz and Taylor Lautner to be in the film.

I think Dakota Fanning is
I think Dakota Fanning is all wrong for Jane. She is just not how I imangined her. She’s too happy. This is gonna sound really strange, but I from Australia and when reading New Moon, I pictured this totally unknown Australian Actress called Catriona Miriklis. She does like stage plays in Melbourne and stuff and I saw her do a monologue at a drama eistedfodd where my brother was competing, she blew my mind! I think she would be perfect!
NOT DAKOTA FANNING!
thats weird
I cant believe you know Catriona…thats weird
Dude, you think that’s
Dude, you think that’s weird, I went to school with her!! She is an amazing actress, she would’ve play the part brilliantly!
Fanning
They should be careful casting Dakota Fanning for New Moon, she might steal the show
Kristin!?
Kristin Chenoweth? As Jane? Are you guys crazy? She’s like 30! HA HA HA
She’ll look like an overaged 12 year old in Jane’s costume. LOL *so hard*
Funny
She’s more “like 40” (will be in July), and I sincerely doubt that they ever considered her.
Love her though!!!
Dakota as Jane?
I think Dakota can play her but not really good because,I always pictured Jane to be in her twenties but Dakota Fanning is too young she’s only like 15. They should chose Jane wisely because it’s not that easy to chose someone for her.
faaaaaanning
I sure wish I could act in new moon.
Dakota is perfect for that part because of her other outstandingroles in past filmes.
Go Dakota! ;)
